THE STANGL ANGLE

Greg Stangl

I recently got a text from my grandson. He’s recently graduated from high school and is pursuing a career in automotive tire repair and management (he’s working at Walmart). He’s a good kid and will send me the occasional note. This is his latest…

Dear Grandpa

Just wanted you to know ILY and have

been missing you. I have a new GF and

BM&Y she’s short term. I’ll tell you more

about her later so DEGT. BTW, this is FYEO

as I have not told my PUs. Thanks

again for the Christmas $$ and I’ll spend it

wisely (LOL). L8R Gater!

Ben

Not quite understanding, I decided to run this text through some WWII code breaking software and then through the German Enigma Cipher machine after consulting with some American Indian code talkers. This is what we came up with.

Dear Grandpa

Just wanted you to know I love you and

have been missing you. I have a new

girlfriend and between you and me she is short

term. I’ll tell you more about her later so don’t

even go there. By the way, this information is

your eyes only as I have not told my parental units.

Thanks again for the Christmas check and I’ll spend

it wisely. (Laughing Out Loud)

Later Gater!

Ben

It’s been estimated (by people that spend time doing these things) that there are 23 billion text messages sent every day, which is about 270,000 per second. In the US of A alone, we send about 18 billion texts per day.

Our grandkids send and receive an average of over 128 per day, while we old geezers average around 16 per day. In recent years texting has become one of the most popular ways to communicate and you’ll notice people everywhere everyday checking their phones.

Sadly, texting has become a common marketing method for business. By 2022 over half of companies have integrated texting and the evidence is right there on our phones. The good news is, 69% of us would rather receive a text as opposed to a call from an unfamiliar brand.

I guess with all things now, it’s the way of the world. I don’t see us going back to the fun old days of smoke signals and Morse code any time soon.

So in closing… IMO, there is NWO of this. CYO and TMB!

(Translation: So, in my opinion, there is no way out of this texting business.  See you online and don’t forget to text me back!)

🦋 Whisper Creek is a community of VOLUNTEERS. Every single Event, Activity, and Amenity is organized and run by neighbor volunteers. There are also plenty behind-the-scenes volunteers who do small acts of kindness that often go unnoticed ~ delivering Christmas cards, putting supplies away, cleaning up a mess someone else left behind, or intentionally visiting those unable to get out and about.

So here’s a shoutout to EACH & EVERY WHISPER CREEK VOLUNTEER, past and present. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO! Whisper Creek is surely a wonderful place to live because of YOU!
