THRIVING HAND IN HAND AT WHISPER CREEK

Posted on February 8, 2026February 8, 2026 By Trish LaPlaca

WC COMMUNITY CLUB COMMUNICATIONS

Trish LaPlaca

Happily, more and more wonderful Whisper Creekers are heading to the Clubhouse to sign up to serve on Activity committees and Event teams. Very likely, they’re considering the ones that spark their particular interests, tap into their talents, and yes, may even feed their own soul in some way. But one thing’s for sure. If they do join in, they’ll definitely be helping to feed someone else’s soul – perhaps yours or mine – by keeping us physically and mentally active while enveloped in fellowship and community.

And that got me to thinking. Without these fine people, what would our Whisper Creek world be like? Oh, how I shudder to think.

Let’s take a peek at a few different scenarios…

WHAT IF…?

…there weren’t Dance Committee members to scout out bands and entertainment on their own time (and dollar); to decorate the Clubhouse, provide ice for our drinks, and even to clean up after us – all for us to enjoy roaring good times together?

WHAT IF…?

…we didn’t have all those quiet warriors who prepare the sites for our favorite games like Pétanque, Horsehoes, Pickleball, Shuffleboard, and Cornhole? Or imagine this – if none of these dedicated warriors volunteered to organize all that fun for us?

WHAT IF?…

…we couldn’t look forward to meeting up twice a week with friends for the chance to call out “BINGO!” and win? Thanks to those friendly volunteers, everything is set up for us, snacks are made available, and yes, we’re cleaned up after. Such a deal! And just think…many of us couldn’t go without playing Mahjong, Cards, or Mexican Train Dominoes, either!

Let’s also not forget those who run around to purchase food & supplies, set up, and then clean up for us to enjoy our Ice Cream Social, Potlucks, Pancake Breakfasts, Morning Coffee Hour and more. Our stomachs would be growling!

With over 35 activities offered to the community of Whisper Creek, these “What If’s” mentioned don’t even scratch the surface. If we think of everything that goes into the planning and execution of some of our favorites, you’ll see what I mean. And can you imagine a Whisper Creek without our incredible Springfest Week? Yikes 😉!

The biggest “win” of all, of course, is that it’s simply all because of our giving volunteers that we Whisper Creekers have such a treasure chest to choose from. And their greatest gift of all?  Friendships & fellowship, of course, while enjoying both mental, creative, and physical activity. Now that’s a bargain!

So when you think about all that your volunteering friends do for us, please consider sharing your own time and personality with us this next season. Sign up by February 20 on any of the sheets in the Clubhouse. Together we can keep the heartbeat of our Whisper Creek community thriving!

💗💗💗💗

Oh, and one last thing. As you know, the Whisper Creek Community Club’s Central Committee is the organizing body of all things relating to Activity and Events. What If…? we didn’t have a group of volunteers willing to contend with some of the more mundane but critical operational and financial aspects of our offerings such bookkeeping, taxes, and insurance? There are also times when equipment, supplies, or maintenance support is needed for an activity and decisions need to be made such as updating the sound system or sharing the cost of game site benches and sand for Pétanque with Inspire. At other times problem solving is required in response to a community member’s concern regarding a particular event or activity. Imagine if there was no one to turn to maintain our wonderful array of offerings?

WE NEED YOU!

This next 2026-27 season is proving to be a critical juncture. Every leadership position: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be newly elected this year.

At this time the Whisper Creek Community Club is most especially in search of someone with bookkeeping and accounting experience to fulfill the TREASURER position. If that speaks to you, please contact Claudia Schuler at 815-218-8938, email address [email protected], or at 268 Redwood Drive right away. Thank you 🙌!

So in closing, whether willing to be a leader or an activity team member, WE NEED YOU! Our all-star volunteers will always make the difference between thriving in a FANTASTIC WHISPER CREEK COMMUNITY rather than just simply living at the Whisper Creek RV park. Join in to work together hand in hand with us. Be a special part of the fun 🤩!

BROADWAY PALM THANKSGIVING DAY MATINEE

“WHITE CHRISTMAS”

Thanksgiving Day –November 26, 2026

Whisper Creek neighbor Pam Blake would like to share the following…

Sign right up for the Thanksgiving Day Matinee at the Broadway Palm in Fort Myers. Arrive at the theatre before 11:15 for group seating. Buffet lunch starts at 11:30 and the show starts at 1:00. Tickets are $80 for the lunch and show. This is a group rate - if there is less than 20 the rate increases to $90 per ticket. Last Thanksgiving the meal was delicious, including turkey and all of the trimmings. No cooking! Good food and entertainment. In order to meet the group rate, I need to book five more seats quickly. Available seating is going fast. I can book more seats than five as long as we get the reservation in soon. Please contact me at 313-303-4625 to secure your place in the group rate. A 10% payment ($8 per ticket) is needed to set up the group reservation and payments, (in full or partial) can be made to me with last payments due by November 2nd. I will notify you if your request to be included is okay based on available seating. Remember, there is also an option of enjoying your Thanksgiving with other Creekers at the clubhouse Thanksgiving Day, so plan on sharing your Thanksgiving holiday with someone!

🦋 Whisper Creek is a community of VOLUNTEERS. Every single Event, Activity, and Amenity is organized and run by neighbor volunteers. There are also plenty behind-the-scenes volunteers who do small acts of kindness that often go unnoticed ~ delivering Christmas cards, putting supplies away, cleaning up a mess someone else left behind, or intentionally visiting those unable to get out and about.

So here’s a shoutout to EACH & EVERY WHISPER CREEK VOLUNTEER, past and present. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO! Whisper Creek is surely a wonderful place to live because of YOU!
