My editor and friend Trish asked me to write a Thanksgiving themed article asking my fellow Whisper Creekers what they are most thankful for at this time of year. Most people quickly replied: family, friends and health. Great answers, but I wanted them to dig a little deeper. This is how they replied…

Bill “I am so thankful for my fantastic wife of 48 years. We have had a great marriage and wonderful family.”
Trig “Just thankful for being upright! Also thankful that we are here for 7 months and up north in Minnesota for 5. We have the best of both worlds!”
John “We are so thankful for our brave soldiers that are out there to protect our freedoms and rights.”
Steve “Am thankful for the fact that I am sitting here right now in Whisper Creek enjoying this beautiful weather. Also thankful that I have not been bitten by fire ants or alligators so far this year!”
Jim “Am so thankful for my extended Whisper Creek family. I really look forward to seeing them each year. Also I am thankful for my church family here in LaBelle.”
Cindra “You can never be too thankful for family, friends and health.
Granny “I am thankful that my family is doing so well right now. We have been through some challenges in the recent past but everything is good right now.”

Julie “Thankful that I’m still in my right mind and have the facilities to enjoy my wonderful life.”
Pam “Thankful that the Lord has provided me with everything he has and this great weather here in Florida.”
Frank “So thankful that the good Lord that has blessed me with good health and for the many helpful and caring people here in the park.”
Kathy “In addition to family and friends and am so thankful for my fun activities here in Whisper Creek. They keep us happy and involved.”
Bob “We are thankful for this beautiful warm Florida weather. We are from Maine and the weather up there can be challenging at this time of year. We also love fishing down here. Caught a couple of nice ones the other day.”
Lenny “I am thankful for the fact that I’m alive and capable of coming down to Whisper creek each year.”

Laura “I am so thankful for the life that my mother has here in Whisper Creek. I am currently here taking care of her right now in the park and that has enabled me to meet so many great people.”
Jeff “I have so much to be grateful for I can begin to list them all!”
Trish “I am grateful for having been born into a loving family, for being surrounded all my life by people full of goodness, love, and laughter, and finally, for having lived a lifetime of adventures great and small with my best friend and husband.”

I am thankful for the creativity that music and writing have introduced into my life, and am also thankful that my dog Sophie drags me along on her morning “walk”. I meet so many interesting Creekers!”
Some additional thoughts on Thanksgiving. I saw a turkey running down the road the other day and I thought to myself, “now that’s fast food!”
I then stopped her and asked what she was most grateful for about Thanksgiving. “Nothing!” she said. In my old age, though, I’ve learned to never trust a turkey; too much fowl play. So then I asked her what her favorite Thanksgiving food was and she said she could not eat anything more, she was already stuffed. Insert groan here.
